In a Parliamentary report , submitted on 29th June 2010, the UMP (Union for A Popular Movement) MP for Saône-et-Loire, announces a huge arrival of electric vehicles on the French market over the next ten years or so. It’s a market that needs heavy infrastructures: with charging stations and electric sockets, the ecosystem for electric cars will gradually put itself in place.
Battery charging is at the heart of future installations dedicated to electric vehicles. Although several solutions are available today, the SAVE project (Seine Aval Véhicules Electriques), in the Yvelines area, intends to examine the different types of charging stations with the help of drivers, in order to determine the solution that is best adapted to users’ practices.
Taking the considerations to a supra-national level, several alliances have been created abroad in order to standardise charging sockets for electric cars. This is the case for "Chamdeo" in Japan, a partnership between four large automotive manufacturers, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors and Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru), and the company Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) in order to standardise electric charging terminals.
