Conscious of moving with the times, the FFM (French Federation of Motorcycle Racing) is "going green" and organising the first race pitting an electric motorcycle prototype against thermal motorcycles.
With the first "
Défi Moto Électrique" (Electric Motorbike Challenge), the French Federation of Motorcycle Racing is falling into "zero- emission" step in the setting of the sixth Gironville 77 race meeting, in the Essonne region.
This ground-breaking event, organised by the Gironville 77 Association and the Enduro Club of Verrières, will take place on Sunday 18th October 2009. At the close of the event, the first ranking specifically devoted to electric motorbikes will see the day.
A skilful and athletic mix of motocross and special trials, the Gironville grasstrack race meeting has become an unmissable motorcycling event in the Ile-de-France region. It welcomes several hundred riders who will compete against each other over dozens of races.
It is for this occasion that the FFM Quantya electric motorbike was specially prepared by the MX Land team. So it will make a grand competitive entrance.
Ridden by Vincent Cossard, this hi-tech machine will take up the challenge of
showing that electric power can compete with thermal-powered machines under real racing conditions.
However, the FFM is not just content with this initiative to put the future of
zero-emission vehicles into the spotlight. Conscious of the need to raise awareness of sustainable mobility among young people, the Federation, in partnership with the Motorcyclist League of the Ile-de-France, and the Departmental Motorcyclist Groups of Essonne and Yvelines, has set up the Oset Bikes Days.
On 18th October and 8th November this year, children aged 6 to 10 will be able to get acquainted with the joys of trial on the handlebars of
electric mini- motorcycles. The ideal conditions to discover competitive electric motorcycling without stress and without … any C02 emissions!
