"Facing public transport demands: towards new mobility": such is the theme of the 22e Rencontres nationales du transport public (22nd National Public Transport Conference) to be held in Nice (France) from the 25th to the 27th of November 2009.

The national public transport conferences reunites, once every two years, over 4,000 participants, essentially elected representatives from State authorities and transport professionals.

This year's programme will include two highlights, in the presence, in particular, of Dominique Bussereau, French Secretary of State for Transport.

On the 25th of November, a round table entitled, "A new deal for public road and rail transport: opening markets" will be inviting speakers to debate on opening markets to competition. And on the 26th of November, the theme, "Global thinking on mobility and planning to meet the challenge of sustainable development" will be the opportunity to discuss the strategies implemented by State authorities and aimed at changing user behaviours.

Themed workshops – "What transport solutions to suit an aging community?", "Diversity in urban transport providers", "The economic crisis: a threat or an opportunity for developing public transport" – will offer an enhancing complement to the event.

Concurrently to debates, Europe's leading companies from the sector will be presenting their latest innovations in the field of travel and transport.
