Annual Energy Outlook 2010 - With Projections to 2035
Subject: In its annual report, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that the global targets for reducing CO2 emissions have not been hit and that greenhouse gas emissions could increase by 43% by 2035. These emissions will notably come from those countries experiencing strong economic growth, such as China and India, who should expect to see their demand for electricity explode. This is why it is advocating the implementation of a restrictive international agreement in order to promote the emergence of alternative energy sources.
Building a low-carbon economy - the UK's innovation challenge

Commuting to Brussels: how attractive is "free" public transport?

Subject: With one vehicle for less than two inhabitants, the city of Brussels has one of the highest motorization rates in Europe. This article attempts to understand what determines train and car users’ choice of transport and analyses the role that prices play. Over the past decade, several Belgian cities have been experimenting with ‘free’ public transport. Nevertheless, today, only a genuine mobility policy, one that makes public transport attractive, will enable permanent change in how and which transport is used.
